On the subject of things gastronomic, we’re
lucky to be located within a hop, skip and jump of two of Daylesford’s
foodie meccas ...
Right across the road, you’ll find Mercato@Daylesford – a
relative newcomer that has quickly become an institution among visitors
and locals alike for its fine dining, good wine list, friendly service
and easy-going ambience. The creative menu of modern Australian cuisine
with regional flavours prepared by Richard Mee and his team is easy
to like. With a focus on regional produce, Richard produces a sophisticated
ensemble of dishes to suit the most discerning of tastes. Mercato
is open for Sunday Lunch - midday to 3pm; and Dinner Friday - Tuesday
6pm to late.
A short stroll away, don’t miss the Farmers
Arms Hotel. About which a notably sniffy Melbourne food critic
wrote: “In a town with significant gastronomic pretensions,
the Farmers Arms Hotel has none. Yet its food is the best I've eaten
in Daylesford. By a fairly wide margin, too.” The Age Good
Food Guide 2005 dubbed it ‘one of the best foodie pubs in Victoria’. The
Farmers Arms welcomes you: Saturday and Sunday lunch 12-3pm; Dining
Mon-Sun 6-9pm; Drinking Mon-Sun early-late.
The Convent is
well worth a look, with history, galleries, gardens, bar and a cafe.
And finally, please book
your spa treatments early to avoid disappointment. We recommend Acqua
